Clips for the duct to defroster or deroster to the dash? It's been several years since I did my car? I know I was able to get the defroster mounted to dash OK but I ended up using duct tape to hold the duct to the defroster. Make sense?

Defroster to dash. Comes with clips that are supposed to attach somewhere where there is no metal.

I understand the duct tape part

Shoot Jason, I can't picture them anymore? Been to long. I do remember thinking after I got it all put back together that I didn't like the looks of VA defrosters from thru the windshield.....they still the oblong plastic with round holes in them? I should have tried to connect the duct to the factory defroster piece. Is that an option for you?

Yup they don't fit for S--T. Not without a LOT of work AND creativity. If I recall correctly the outlests supplied by VA are LAME at BEST. Make that VERY LAME!

My suggestion is to fabricate your own outlets. Vintage makes some "ends" that the flex hose mounts to. The ends are for use in Street Rods but they can be used as a compoment of a custom made outlet unit. I fabricated my own unit for my 72.

I know that you are talking about a 68 / 69. Don't get too hung up about the difference between the 68 /69 cars and the 70 / 72 cars. Yes there are differences everywhere in the years BUT up there by the firewall they are more or less the same from 1968 thru 1972. Someone is gonna chime in here and talk about every little difference and YES there are differences BUT you are likely faced with fabrication no matter what you do. As you already said the VA parts don't fit !!

Someone recently told me that you can get a pretty well made defroster duct from Vintage for the later 70 ...72 A-body cars.

You don't say what unit you are installing the "Sure Fit" or Gen II or whatever. It makes no real difference because all the VA stuff uses flex hose to get the air up to the windshield so fabricating something with the Street Rod parts I mention above is likely a good alternative. Look at the VA unit for the 70 / 72 cars before you get too involved in fabrication however.

I had the same problems, I just riveted the tubes into the OE defrost duct work and made an alum. plate to seal it at the bottom .
I also put some black sealer to make sure it was sealed.
I have some pictures on my web site, Under interiors #2 http://my.att.net/p/s/community.dll?...eid=256928&ck=
I also have a few pictures in my showroom.
I think I cut up the VA vent to get the hose ends?
Hope this helps?
