Starting a new thread as the original was getting cluttered with our thoughts. So here is the final info:
What: 1st Annual West Coast Chevelle Gathering Where: Sacramento Raceway Park 5305 Excelsior Rd, Sacramento CA When: APRIL 4th Gates open at 10am. Test N Tune from 12 noon - 4pm Admission - $10/person or $50 to race car/driver Bring your own food/drinks. Bring your family/kids. There will be a designated area for all of us to park/BBQ/rest in shade. Some people will be staying the night at nearby hotels. If that interests you, post and we can try and all stay at the same hotel. In the case that rain falls on April 4th, our backup day will be April 18th. |

I'll put it out there again, IF anyone wants to hang out at my place after (and IF Scott isn't going to have anything at his place), I'll open my place to hang out and BS... Many of you know where I live (Folsom), and Craig and Alan stayed in Hotels nearby in Folsom last year (Craig/Alan; were the hotels acceptible? clean? affordable? close enough? Would you stay there again?)... Generally plenty of parking at my place, there's a brand new parking lot directly across the street from my place (although its for a park, so I'm not sure if it will be full on Saturday evening)...

Craig/Reta and I and my wife Jayme stayed at the Courtyard Marriott in Folsom last time. It was perfectly acceptable. It's like home to me since I stay 85 or so nights a year in some type of Marriott property . Ihop and BevMo a few steps from hotel. Some fast food, if I recall correctly.Craig, I checked rates for Marriott's in Folsom area. That Courtyard we stayed at last time is currently $95/night and the Marriott Rancho Cordova is $85/night (both AAA rates). Both have free parking. Just throwing it out. I like to change things up a bit, so not sure at this point what hotel we'll be staying at. |

Oh, does anyone know what the rules are for test-n-tune? I'm going to try to con my friend Mark into bringing his TAD dragster - good for 5.70-6.20 ET's at about 260 or so.

Could someone point me in the right direction for stuff that needs to be on the car for inspection and tech. I know some places require a helmet, double return springs on carb etc... I am running a stock Chevelle nothing bit, so not going to break into the 12's or anything. I'll be there with my wife.

The rules for TnT are standard "Fun Drags" rules. IE: Cars below a certain ET are only required to have minimum safety equipment. Get details at the track website: www.sacramentoraceway.com If in doubt or you have any questions about track rules and/or racing, please call the track.

UPDATE: 2-4-09
Just got home from the track. Had a nice sit-down meeting with Dave Smith (owner of Sacramento Raceway) in his office regarding plans for "the Gathering". I am pleased to announce that Dave has generously volunteered to give all "race participants" a $20 discount. For those of you who are going to hit the track, your cost at this event will only be $30! Non-race participants still pay $10 per person. Please PM me or email me direct at cueball9@comcast.net to put your name on the racer list, get the flyer via snail-mail or answer any questions you may have about local accomodations etc. update: need your mailing address for flyers due to scanner operator malfunction. will send 10 pre-printed or 1 master. Dave and Gary are both excited to be able to help us out with this inaugural event. They're both car guys and want to do whatever they can to help promote our sport/hobby. For those of you who missed it in the previous thread, here's what we have going; First and foremost, the West Coast Chevelle Gathering is a "Family Friendly" event Gates open at 10:00am, Racing from Noon-4pm, Event ends at 5:00pm We'll be parking the Chevelles as a group in a reserved space We get a nice grassy spot by the pond to hang out in Plenty of EZ-ups for shade and some tables and chairs to eat at Remember, bring your own food and drink this year I'm gonna fire up 2 big 55gal drum type BBQ's for Do-It-Yourself cooking @ Noon Lunch will be at 1:00pm along with some introductions etc. (they also have good food at the snack bar. the chilli dogs and fries rock!) Access to air, tools and a welder on an as-needed basis Gary is gonna fire-up the TopFuel car for us @ 2:00pm 5:00pm take down the tents, pick-up the trash and call it good. Remember....this is our first event. A trial run of sorts but nothing I haven't done before. I look forward to meeting all of you and ask for your input, ideas and feedback. The idea is to make this year so COOL that those that don't make it will be sure to come next year. Already on the drawing board for next year are; T-shirts, dash plaques, awards, pre-event registration with meal option and more. So....get those flyers out there and pass the word. You won't want to miss this one!!

Amazingly enough there was nothing on my calendar for April 4th... so I to am going to try and make it out. If we are doing the BBQ thing at the track I just may have to bring out some cast iron and make up a desert. My peach cobbler is a well known favorite in some circles.
Dunno about racing... would be interesting to see what it would do but may still be in clutch break in mode.

You have quite a brain and I have quite the desire to pick it in person, get visuals on the stuff that you post here and, to be honest, give me a headache trying to understand. That there cobbler sounds righteous! Racing or not, hope to see you there.
