Question '72 Chevelle SS grill

Needing to know what the '72 SS grill looks like. Where they all the some or did some have the chrome ribs and some not? I see some blacked out with just the "SS" and the "Chevelle" emblems, and some with the chrome strips. Is it just personal preference or is one way correct for the '72 SS? Any pictures would help. Thanks.

Bryce

No picture of mine but I'll try to explain.

entire grille is black with only the top & bottom ribs with the stainless moulding
the DOES have a 'Chevelle' emblem located in the lower drivers side.
(grilles with no emblem are for El Caminos or base model Chevelles & Heavy Chevies.

The correct "SS" grille is blacked out, upper and lower stainless trim, center "SS" emblem and LH "CHEVELLE" emblem.

This sweet 72 SS belongs to Stan (member name skryla)

Thanks for the info on the grille guys. Speaking of SS emblems, for some reason the repros I ordered and put on are flaking. The black paint all around the actual SS is flaking, on for sure the rear SS emblem, if not the front as well. Any suggestions or success stories with other repro emblems?

It also looks like there is something below the fender SS emblem on this pic Mike posted. Is there a correct emblem for the '72, because I think I've seen just the SS alone on the fender. Maybe it's just the picture, but I had to ask.

As far as the 72 grille is concerned, on the SS, are the two inners strips just wider plastic, or is there a black molding on them, if that makes any sense?

I mistakenly got a Malibu grille that has all four molding strips on it, and don't want to damage it by trying to take the inner two off.

As far as I've seen or believed, they are the same grille other than the color.
Black=SS or H/C
Argent=Malibu

Mainly I meant does the SS grille have the strips, but they're just black, or no strips at all, and the plastic is just wider there. It looks like they have them, but they're blackened out. Just trying to clarify.

Eric, the bare SS grille is just all black plastic, then you add the stainless steel upper and lower moldings. Nothing is added to the middle two horizontal strips, they are already black.
