A "mini tub" probably won't be too much help, as the frame rails will also need to be narrowed to add any noticible room...

But, a "mini-tub" should be relatively straight forward... Cut the inner wheel house from the outer wheel house, notch the floor and move the inner wheel house inward, then add a filler strip...

Here is a tech article from Malibu Racing on frame notching. It's a different year but the basic technique is the same.

I'm finishing up a '66 now, 3" per side. It's very time consuming. The frame work went quick, the body work took about 20 times longer.

Do you have any pics of the process for your 66? I have a 67 I am planning on doing this to probably next month. I was hoping for 2" per side but 3" sounds better. I am trying to get all the information I can before firing up the welder!

Thanks!

I can email you a few pics. Is your email in your profile still good?

I needed 3" to fit the tire I'm going to run. It's really no harder to do 3" then 2", anymore then 3' and you'd have more issues.

Here are a few pics of the mini tub I just completed on my 67. I was about to get 1.75" from both sides. Any more and there will be almost no support.

WOW! Where to begin? Twin turbo Viper V10? Wow!

Are you planning on sectioning your body to sit down over the frame? Your interior frame seems to stick down below the frame rails about 6". I would think it wouldn't clear the ground by much otherwise.

Thanks! How difficult was it to get everything straight before welding it back together? That's what I'm most nervous about.

I am going to notch or z my frame to stuff some bigger tires in the back of my 70. Does anyone have any pictures of the inner fenders after they are cut and spaced out? I don't want to lose the back seat and it is my understanding that if i move the inner fenders over a couple of inches or square everything off, the back seat will not mount anymore. Is that correct?

ive looked into using theirs but you need to buy a bunch of add ons to get it to work.

first you need coil overs, if you want to use the stock spring hats you need to move them inboard and move them on your axle

if you go the coil over route you have to spend another 500 bucks

then, if if you still wanna go through with it you need to figure out what to do with the rear sway bar. the stock style sway bar will hit the new coil over mounts that are welded to the axle. so you will need to dump that and go with something else , which they also sell.

its really a 2k job if you buy everything instead of making it yourself
