I have a set and I am going to remove the inner fenders and install them this winter.... It has to be easier that way.

The problem isn't the inner fender being in the car, the problem is the stiff staples. Get some stainless steel wire , the same thickness as the staples and make your own staples that will be easier to bend. Pre-drill the holes if they're new wheel wells, and you'll find the job easy. You can also use paper clips. The paper clips that are about an inch and a quarter long, have the correct wire thickness.

Taking notes for future reference Good ideas there Bill. Mine are still out on the floor, but If I forget (Like I have been doing lately) I'll have "Plan B" I have new repop inners (Steel) Is there reference dimples to where to drill the holes for mounting?

Is is correct that they mount from underneath the inner fenders and the staples go through the a-arm shields and then the inner fender with the staples bent over on the top side of the inner fender?
I still have to install mine.

Assembly Manual Shows That They Go On The Inside, With The Staples Bent Over On The Outside Of The Liner. (wheel Side) The Paper Clips Would Be A Little Soft, Would Not Hold As Tight, As For Stainless- They Would Be As Hard As The Ones Supplied. If I Can't Figure Out Some Way To Do It I Will Probably Go With The Paper Clips. Thanks For The Help. I.o.u. All!!!!

I have done three cars with the large legal size paper clips and have had nothing even wiggle loose even a little bit. Just need to "tuck" them in when your done with the initial bend with a tool or your choice..works great! and they are nickel plated to boot!

This is correct for the plastic inner finders but the steel ones are stapled from the top like the assembly manual. I used some floral wire from a local craft store and cut and bent to the correct size and haven't had any problems with them coming loose or discoloring.

Each of the assembly plants had their own way of doing it. I have seen original cars with the staples from the bottom and original cars with the staples from the top.

This is not a "one size fits all" assembly process.

Do whatever these emails say to use the staples - but a good trick is to also contact cement the dust shield into place before you install the staples. It stays where you put it and makes the staple installation a snap. Just drill thru the existing staple holes in the inners and on thru the rubber, then install the staples. Don't go overboard on the glue and it can't be seen when you are finished.
