Default Identifying a Holley Carb

I'm trying to identify a Holley carb that I've had for quite a few years.

I was doing some cleaning in the attic today and came across an old Holley carb that was on my first car. I purchased this carb second hand off a high school friend back in the early 80's to go on a 72 Cutlass. He told me it was a 600 cfm carb. The list number on the carb is 1551. It is a 4150, secondary metering plate with jets and vacuum secondaries. I was comparing it to a 1850 carb (600 cfm) and realized the venturi's on the 1551 are significantly smaller. Can't find a 1551 listing anywhere in my Holley books. Other than the size of the venturi, it looks like a 1850. Anybody have any idea what carb this is?

Thanks for your help.

The Holley LIST 1551 was originally installed on 1958 Ford passenger cars with a 332 engine.

If my memory serves me correct, Holley 4150 carbs have metering BLOCKS with jets in them on both the primary and secondary sides. Holley 4160 carbs have a metering plate on the secondary side which does NOT have jets. Also the 4150's are double pumpers with dual fuel lines. I'm not sure if this addresses your question or not though. I hope this helps.

Billy,

You are right. I meant to say metering block and not plate. My bad.

I was under the impression that a 4150 was the model with a secondary metering block and a 4160 had the metering plate. But I could be wrong.

Eric. Where did you find this info? Does it give the flow of the carb or maybe the venturi dimension?

No that^ is correct. You didn't say that in your first post.

Darren;

I *believe* they flow somewhere around 390-450 cfm or therabouts.
