Default Please Help: 71 Chevelle. VIN Heavy Chevy...Yes or No??

Ok so i got the vin and then went to this site I found on here:
http://www.chevelles.de/us/years/1971.html

Then I looked at all of this:
1971 Serial Numbers

Description: (example - 136371B300001)

13637 Model number (13637 - 2dr coupe / 13667 - 2dr convertible) 1 Last digit of model year (1971) B Assembly plant (B-Baltimore, K-Leeds, L-Van Nuys, R-Arlington, I-Oshawa) 300001 Consecutive sequence number

Location: The serial number is located on a plate attached to drivers side dash, visible through windshield
So here is the beginning of the vin:
134371B

I know the (1) is for the last digit of the year. The (b) is for Baltimore.

But please tell me what kind of Chevelle do the 13437 stands for????

All they show on the site is:
Model number (13637 - 2dr coupe / 13667 - 2dr convertible)

Please help sooooon

thanks

Not too fast 13437 indicates a base model Chevelle (i.e., not a Malibu), and all Heavy Chevys were built from base model Chevelles. So, it COULD be a Heavy Chevy, but the 13437 does not automatically prove this. All base model Chevelles came with rubber floor mats, deleted exterior trim, special door panels, etc. Evidence that the car was a real Heavy Chevy would be the YF3 code on the build sheet, and/or original HC stripes, original domed hood with pins, 4-spoke steering wheel.

Rainer

The car that i am lookin to buy, I think was repainted, so it dont have the HC stripes nor do it have the "Heavy Chevy" logo anywhere on the outside on the car. Plus no build sheet, so I cant see if it has a YF3 code or not. Original hood do not come with the car, so I cant tell with that.

And what do you mean "4-spoke steering wheel"?? There is a REAL HC on ebay now that steering wheel dont look like what you talking about: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=150090453962

I want to post pic's and a link to where I am tryin to buy it, but I dont want somebody else on here taken it. So could I PM you pics and you tell me what you think from the pics??

thanks for all your help

The car on ebay has an aftermarket steering wheel. The 4-spoke wheel is the rubber cushion type found on Camaros from around 71-81. The ebay car also has the wrong door panels (their ad doesn't mention that, but it does mention the added carpet and vinyl seat covers).

Sure, you can PM me, but I won't be able to tell you if it was a real HC.

Rainer,

You are correct in everything you said came on the Heavy Chevy except for the 4-spoke steering wheel. The Heavy Chevy came standard with the base model wheel. The padded 4-spoke wheel could be ordered as an option.

According to the book, Chevelle and El Camino ID Numbers, there were 17,117
Chevelles with the 13437 VIN.

I looked at a 13437 Chevelle last year, for sale. It was a nice driver condition car and he was asking about 20 grand. He couldn't sell it for the longest time. I don't know what he finally did with it.
