Default 1970 Buick GS 455 (Value ?)

A friend of mine told me about a car he found sitting in a garage.
The lady that owns it told him it was for sale.
It's a 1970 Buick GS-455 4 spd. It's Dark Blue w/a Blk. vinyl top & bucket seat interior.
He told me that it only has 33,500 miles on it.
She is asking 15,000 for it.
I'm think I'm going to check it out.
What do you guys think. Is the asking price average for this car?

Brian

Buicks don't fetch the same prices as Chevelles, but GS models are getting up there. If it's in good shape with #s matching and it's what you're looking for that sounds like a pretty good price to me.

As usual, Andy is right
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

That is a pretty rare car.
510 4 speed hardtops where built in 1970
You can find out by the cowl tag and VIN if its the real deal

$15,000 is very cheap for that car.
If its a strong #3/appearing to be a high #2 car to the average car guy,its worth 22-25K easily.

I don't think it's worth any more than $3,000. Why don't you give me the address and I will check it out. LOL.

Seriously, I would love to get my hands on one of those cars. The stage 1's are the ones you want!!

I was told that the car belonged to her late husband.
The lady doesn't drive it, and decided it was time to let the car go.
My wife told me I should go look at it. I guess I can't argrue with the wife on that one, so I'm calling the lady Monday.
Does anyone know what #'s I should be looking for on the Cowl tag?
What about the vin. ?
N.A.D.A says its worth $16,000 + 5% for 4spd.= $16,800
for average cond.
Thanks,
Brian

Why would you wait until Monday to call her?????????

Ohhhhhhhhh, so somebody else can get to it first, I see.

You better move a little faster on a deal like this.

That's an excellent buy, if it's in good condition.

I'd be calling her NOW !

Any 4 speed Buick GS 455 is worth quite a bit, and man do they haul behind. I had a 1970 GS350 with a 4 speed, 3.23 posi and was it fun still miss that car.

Buicks (well all the GM sister brands) the VIN code will tell all you need to know, the Vin should read like .....446370 the next number will be the plant this is for a Hard top GS455. This information came straight from the 1970 Buick Service manual

Don't even pay attention to the NADA guide for a 1970 GS 455 4 speed's value

I used to own a 1970 GS455 4 speed convertible...1 of 126 built
Thats one car I wish I still had..

I'm definitely not in the market ... but upper teens sounds about right (I thought). Sure it's rare, and I'd be the first to admit Buick's were better built than Chevelles. The BOP's just never sell for anything close to the Chevy's.

I may be off, but price sounds fair ... but no steal?

Cool car though ... my first was a '72 Skylark. Loved it. Just don't think you're going to find a steal in this ... unless you want a '70 GS, then it does look to be under market value some.

Neal

I'll take 2 for that price. Seriously if you can swing it and it's a nice driver (dare I say it) You could definately flip that one and make a VERY NICE Profit.
