Default Splice a rubber hose on a brake line?

The brake line running across my rear axle sprung a leak. Can I splice in a rubber hose and then rebleed or is that asking for trouble. I'll replace it eventually.

It's a high pressure line...no splice will work safely. Replace it!

Thats asking for trouble, there's hundreds of pounds of pressure in those lines when the brakes are applied, Bill is right, replace it for saftey's sake.

Thanks for the help, that's kinda what I thought. Brakes are something you don't want to cut corners with.

I agree with Bill. Change the hose, there's really no way around it.

The only possible way to do it safely would be to go to a shop that works with hydraulics, and have them do it. However, I doubt that they would even consider doing it on an old, rotted brake hose, and even if they would, I doubt that you would want to do it when you see what they charge.

It will work. For a while. But you never can be sure exactly when it will STOP working. Probably sooner rather than later.

As usual, Andy is right
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

Look for someone expirienced w/ a flaring tool and see if they can make one for you. You are talking about the hard line, right?

Those rear rubber lines are inexpensive. No point in trying to mess with it. Replace it.

A pair of pre-bent steel lines from The Right Stuff only cost $25.00 and will drop right into place with no fuss. Stainless steel lines are only $35.00. Just replace them! Might as well replace the rubber line from the frame to the axle while you are at it.
