Yeah...thats why i spent $50 bucks on 10 feet of 3" aluminized tube, made a few cuts and dumped it before the rear end.....Ive got a grand total of about $170 in my 3" exaust including the flowmaster 50's.

My 3" Torqe Tech kit fit better than my 2 1/2" Flowmaster kit did. It depends on who makes the kit!

I also used Pypes exhaust and it was the biggest waste of money ever spent. I previously had Torque Tech that was trashed when my driveshaft let go. Due to the cheaper cost I went with the 3in Pypes stuff.

I was having fits doing it myself so I had to go to a muffler shop to get it hung. By the time I paid them for dinging, cutting, rewelding, etc. I could have bought the Torque Tech stuff again and been time and money ahead. The stuff was garbage plain and simple.

I called the tech line and was told "I" must be installing it incorrectly????

Just say NO!!!

I think the tailpipes were made wrong.
after messing with it for a couple hours at my shop, I finally told him he was going to have to take the stuff to an exhaust shop.
They barely made it work. The tailpipes still hit the body and they had to fix it again later.
I noted the same problem here Nate. Next time you're around a 2nd gen f-body, take a look at those tailpipes, and you'll see they are the same. Problem is, they don't fit right under a 1st gen. Way too tall.

This is my second post on this thread and I guess everyone has their own opinion based on their personal experience. But I really don't understand why Pypes is getting such a bad rap unless I just got lucky or maybe they have changed their design or something. The only thing my installer had to do on my Pypes system was reverse the X-pipe from the way they showed it. I think that was because of my DS loop. But the tailpipes fit great, honestly! No clearance problems whatsoever. Now I wasn't there when the system went up so I can't say they fell right in to place, but I do know he was impressed with the fit. I have since changed my springs (with air bags) several times, changed shocks, and dropped the gas tank which was tight but still came out without loosening the pipes at all. I not preaching for Pypes and I don't owe them anything but I can't understand how the results can change from car to car. I also know how frustrating it is when something don't fit. Been there, done that!

Danny, do you have adjustable rear uppper control arms?

W/o my Eddy adjustable uppers, the tailpipes wouldn't be on my car. I had to dent the pipes pretty hard to clear the gas tank - I actually shimmed the gas tank a little to push it back a little to help out.

No Vince, my arms are stock. I don't understand why we had different results unless maybe they changed the bend #s or something. My system has been on for 2 1/2 years. Actually, up until last week, I was running M/T Sportsman Pro tires (28X12.50) which are about as wide as you can get under the body and they were close but cleared. (3/8") Wish I had some photos to send. Did you say you called them about the fit?

Well, I know I'm late to this party, but if you want my opinion, ANY of these pre bent systems are going to need HEAVY mods if you expect them to fit like a custom system.. Now, if you're OK with an ill fitting system, they can probably be bolted right on out of the box with a little cutting & dinging..

Here are a few pixs from the nightmare I had with my Summit 3" kit..

Here are a couple of the complete system..

Actually, here's a link to the thread I had going throughout the whoe ordeal, just in case anybody might be interested..

I didn't call them for fitment, I just ordered the 68-72 A body kit.

But let me say this - I don't pretend to be an expert w/anything, but these tailpipes just didn't work...period.

If I moved them forward, they hit the axel and control arm
If I moved them back, they hit the axel and gas tank.
If I moved them side to side, they hit the shock/tire/shock tower.

There's really not much adjustment w/these size of pipes. You basically have start w/the tailpipes aligned out the back, and hope that the rest clears under the car.

I installed 2 Flowmaster 2.5 systems, each was perfect. Did a Jegs 3" recently, alot of cuts but fit pretty darn good, especially when you consider the price.

right right right !!!!!

They were too tall.
I couldn't believe how low the mufflers sat.

I was pretty dissappointed for a kit that is supposed to be installed at home. Waaaaaaaaaay too many pieces too.

I love the way that dumps sound, but can't stand the amount of dust they throw up in you drive on a gravel driveway, or dirt showfield... I'll stay with my full exhaust

I've always had a reputable muffler shop custom build my exhaust systems on all my cars. I just seems easier
