Hey, John is that 500 hp with the stock ZZ454?
If so, they obviously are underrating them at 440 hp. |

i added the 502 cam and my roller rockers but the stock unit pulls nearly 500 hp and torque on the dyno. i'm assuming the dyno is accurate. i can't wait to get it in the car.

The ZZ502 cam is a good 25 HP adder. I have heard of HP reports in the 480 range for a stock ZZ454, but tend to think a lot of this has to do with adjusting the numbers to standards. Even if the non-corrected stock HP for a ZZ454 is the factory rated 440HP, when ever you can get a 450CI motor in the 450 range that pulls 18" vac at idle, that's impressive. My guess is the non-corrected HP of the ZZ454 with the ZZ502 cam is more like 475 - 480HP. That's still real good for a mild cam motor. Would be very hard pressed to know the difference between 475HP and 500HP in anything less than an all out race car anyway. Add in the fact that you could put 100,000 miles on that motor without thinking about anything other than a regulat oil changes and it's even more impressive.

Good move... I put one in my 67 last year . It has good street manners and plenty of power when you need it. My first time out at the strip last year gave me a 12.16 et & 111 mph . My motor is stock but I may up the cam like you did . What type and cfm carb will you use ?

Cool. I didn't think there were many ZZ454's out there. I haven't gotten mine out much but I'm really looking forward to the Spring.

I'm in!
Hey Bobsbbc - What kind of tires were you running to get that time? I've been practicing my launch and I have no idea what to do at the track. After I let the clutch out I can spin the tires indefinitely. I have 245 BFG TA comps on 15X8's. |

I am running 235/60 /15 bfg drag radials on 15/8 ralley wheels .. We did 4 passes . The best 60 ft was 1.891 , the worst was 2.417 . The best time was when heating the tires up. It is hard to do a good burn out without a line lock . I would like to get one but I only race the car 2 or 3 times a year . My son wants me to get M/T 275/50 drag radials . 2 inches more tread and same 26" height .
He ran them on his trans am and they hooked with very little burn out . The M/T should fit under our 67 s . |

I just got 275/50 drag radials...if I can get a 1.8 or lower '60 I'll be a
happy camper! MJ, Last year I met a guy at the track w/a '70 Charger 440. He was pulling consistent 1.8 w/a best 1.6 '60 times w/your tires. He would lower the pressure to 16-20lbs. These were comp t/a's (thats what you have right?) This was an auto, so that does make thing easier. Still impressive though.

That is impressive - I have nearly double that pressure for riding around town - if this snow melts soon I think I'll try airing it down a little and run a few tests.....We had nearly 20" last night!
