Default C5 Rear Brake Mod

Some have expressed an interest in the C5 rear brakes. This is what I did.

I traced the outline of the backing plate, so if anyone needs a copy let me know. (You pay for the stamp)

This set up does not allow for a parking brake, so if you need one I would use the Camaro/Trans am brakes.

You will need to fab up the hard lines so they will attach to the calliper. I looped my line to take up some slack. I used Aeroquip ends. You will need 2 Aeroquip adapters that will go between the hard line and the flex line and 2 Aeroquip 10mm Banjo X whatever size flex line you are using. #3 or#4??
Sorry I dont have the #3 part #'s (thats what I used). The #4 adapters are
FCM2937 this is the 3/8-24 to inverted flare. It would go between the hard line and flex line.
FCM2948 is the 10mm banjo X #4. It will bolt to the calliper and the other end of the flex line will attach to it.

I know Im missing alot of info, so ask away. I can also take more detailed pictures as these were taken before the job was complete.

The really easy way to do the rear swap is to just buy everything from the backing plate out from an LSX series Camaro/Firebird and bolt it all on. No fab work, no fuss. I've seen the whole packages go on ebay for about 200-300.

On the fronts, calipers are only 150/ea brand new so paying over 200/pair on ebay is just silly. Rotors are 30/ea brand new at any Napa store, I wouldn't even think about buying them ebay....shipping would cost more than new rotors. I don't remember exactly how much I have wrapped in mine but the Wilwood setup is going to be cheaper than used C5 parts were.

I can't argue with that. This is just one more option that some may like to do. There really is'int any mods using C5's it was a direct bolt on also. I did loop the original brake line though as it was to long.
I Have about $1200 in the brakes front and rear. It is all brand new GM not import stuff like Napa's rotors MIGHT be? not sure about that.

The NAPA rotors I buy (about a dozen set a week) all say Canada on them. BTW, might want to check that GM=made in U.S.A. theory, most of it is made in Mexico.

I work for TRW after market and all of our rotors are made in Ohio and Candada. We sell them to DANA and Federal Mogul who market them with there brands. I know for a fact that they sell to Autozone and NAPA.
