I'd like to thank everyone on this on this forum for the condolences and warm thoughts. His family is overwhelmed by all the prayers and love that has been expressed. Mark participated on many forums, but he has lately been into this forum a lot. He enjoyed all the technical advice and cheer leading from everyone.

He has been looking at exhaust systems lately, and last week I got to watch video after video of El Camino's with different exhaust systems and muffler tones.
Leave it to a musician to look for the right muffler tone .

A big thanks to Highway Star for your support of his endeavors!

Sincerely,
Dianna Burley

I am still shocked by his passing, Dianna. Thank you for posting such kind words. It's kind of funny how people can become friends over the internet nowadays. Mark was going to start turning some wrenches & doing some work to his Elky himself. He asked a lot of questions here and researched until he understood things. He had a set of ported heads ready to ship tp him from my friend jeff swisher in Oklahoma. I was going to offer to come to TX and help put them on his 350. Only after we had been "friends" a while did I learn that he was also a rock & roll star. He told me about Rockstah Amps and the brown sound and chasing tones and modifying amps, and a little of his experience traveling and playing music. I always thought that was pretty cool because I'm just some dude.

I've been through loss and the grief and everything else that goes along with it. I am so sorry that you lost Mark, Dianna. If there is anything I can do, or even us guys at Team Chevelle can do, please let me know. Just post here.

Jake,
Mark made so many friends through forums. He loved to exchange ideas. I know the two of you messaged a lot. He told me about the heads that were being made. He was SO excited to get his car running great. I started it on Friday and was thinking that it was running smoother than it ever had. Mark was a perfectionist and would research something intensely before he would do the work.

Thank you for your words and condolences.
Maybe I'll take the SS out for a cruise soon.
Dianna

I posted something earlier in this thread but I think I need to add or restate. I worked with Mark on a problem with his Elco and the experience was like working with an old "car friend". I answered one of his questions about his problem, then like I always do I asked a bunch of questions. He was back instantly with pics showing what I needed info on. Using the pics he sent and my GM parts manuals / GM illustration guide we got focused on what was wrong with his vehicle. It was a real back and forth event...a few minutes between my question and another PIC then another question from me or a suggestion "Try this" then another PIC. It went on over a period of 4 or 5 days.

My point: It was fun working with him and working with him was in a lot of ways what this hobby used to be. Guys with similar interests working together to fix a problem. His passing at such a young age is truly a sad event and it should serve as a reminder that nobody has a lock on tomorrow. It behoves everyone to "Do the right thing","Treat others as you want to be treated" and "Behave like an adult". Likely once Marks issue was fixed we would have each moved on to other things, perhaps never crossing "virtual paths" again. A situation like this however shows just how fleeting things can be.
