Hey Guys-

I'm no carb expert by any means, so I need some help. Did the research on the forum and internet and getting tons of different answers....need your expertise on which of the three carburetors (links below) are best for my application (not for my '66 chevelle, but for my '55 Chevy 210 sedan). Called Holley too for an answer, but they said wait time to speak was 35 minutes which I though was crazy, so I ask for your help.

Our Car Specifics:
1955 Chevy two door sedan
355ci. 375hp.
400 turbo
stock 3:73 rear end
No power brakes or steering

This car is for my wife and looks completly stock with full quiet exhaust, white wall tires and stock hub-caps. She wants a nice cruiser that starts everytime and is trouble free....basically, this car will never be at the strip and will only be driven to work occasionally, the local dairy queen and the grocery store.

I'm thinking vacuum secondaries, electronic choke and maybe even something smaller than a 670cfm. Please share your wisdom and advice and what is the difference between all three of the carbs listed below and which is best for our application?

Thanks
Tod

They are on the 625 CFM Carb which should be perfect for the wife and save her gas $$$

Hey Greg,

Do you know if the corvette drop base will fit over this carb ? It will fit over a quadrajet and holley. I really want to use this air cleaner.

I'm thinking of switching from my 850 vac secondary Holley (the engine is 460 BBC)

All the vehicles i have built for myself are daily drivers and MPG is a big plus for me as is starting up so the wife can drive them.
My first choice is a Qjet with a choke.
second choice is a 750 carter afb.
Yes i know it is larger than the available 600-625 cfm of the same style carb.
Built a 388" for my Father-in-law performer rpm intake and 600cfm holley VS.
Later installed a 750 Edelbrock both out of the box stock.. both fired right up for over 2 years no headaches and both returned 15MPG, it was his daily driver..
Well sort of , he drove for Jack Cooper hauling cars around the USA. so the car would get driven to work and a week or 5 days later he would get back in it and drive home.
He used it for errands and hauling stuff also 64 Elcamino.

In my testing i have found the main circuit comes in much later than the small venturi of the other size, and I get rewarded with 1/2 mpg more.
I build and tune all my own carbs, so just buy and bolt on does not work for me,
although it does work.
Holley is always my last choice.
Well Demon is last, as i have had to mess with 3 of those out of the box just to get half way acceptable driveability. those 3 were sent back as they just did never work well at all.
Those were friends cars that purchased them.

I think a reg. 650dp 4777 would work great on that combo.
