Does anyone know where I can get a set or just the passenger side kick panel with a speaker to allow me to use the Vintage Air pass thru for the hoses. The ones I see for sale such as the KCHV-64/6 from Custom Auto Sound are molded without the factory vent.
If any fabricators offer them or if someone on here has dealt with this issue I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanks in Advance! Rich |

Hey Rich, I may be misunderstanding you, but the kicks from Custom Auto Sound that I have on my 64 do have slits in them behind the speakers so the factory vents still work. In my 64 the vent is a separate piece behind the kick panel cover so the flap opens and closes behind the kick panel and the slits allow the air to still come through. I did however have to remove the parking brake on the driver side to be able to use them.

Yes, they do have a vent but its molded different than the original panel. Installing the vintage air system requires you to use that original style kick panel with the oval vent in it. I need a kick panel molded just like the original but with a speaker molded into it.

I have seen the panels with a speaker in them for a factory air car that have the pass through. Some of the non-AC kick panels use the factory vent hole for the speaker which won't work with the VA system. The non air car systems requires you to cut up the original kick panels which is something I didn't want to do. My car is non-air and I ordered the AC kick panels which should work with some minor fab work.

I have VA in my 66
A Gen IV unit that utilizes the vent opening for the hoses---so the vent is gone. since that vent is gone---I went ahead and removed the driver vent as well (Never did use them anyway) Used the CAS kick panels for cars with AC and some very shallow pioneer speakers. Did not remove the parking brake---but I did have to modify it for speaker clearance. A couple of cuts with a die grinder and a bit of welding and the parking brake is fine now.

I have the CAS kick panels for 66 with AC in mine. Just converted from factory air to the gen IV this last summer, they worked good. Just some minor trimming for the new evaporator unit.

Bryan, any pics of the e brake pedal? I just restricted upward travel on mine. Thought about relocating somehow but took easy way out.

Kick panels.
Cannot recall where I got these, but they are probably Custom Auto Sound. Speakers are Pioneer --- shallow mount --- cannot find these same speakers where I bought them. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewc...rch_id=1279477 These are the options as you need a shallow speaker. The kick panels in the car. these are for AC applications and a bit of trimming was required on the passenger side for hose clearance-----not visible at all. ![]() ![]() ![]() Parking brake. ![]() ![]()

Bryan,
Thank you very much, well that answers the question. I was not visualizing it when I saw the ad for them on CAS's web site, but now I see how the will fit with the VA system. Thanks man for all your help and info! Regards, Rich |
