Jake, that is a bummer. My guess, the VW(?) pulled out of a parking lot , you had nowhere to go. Not to be a wisenhimer, but the new cars paint matches yours pretty well.
I was trying to turn left at a shopping center, the road curves around some trees in front of me. 4 lane and the guy in the nearest lane waived me through...didn't see an escort wagon coming around his huge Ford f250 so I pulled in front of her.
Car is back on the road but in epoxy primer, hood is still slightly warped. Frame was straitened but isn't 1000% right. Driver fender is still a little stretched/warped too so it will need replaced too one of these days.
It's amazing how much damage was done to these older vehicles. I always hear people say "Oh, that old tank, I wouldn't want to hit that, it would only leave a scratch on the bumper!" when that's not true at all, in fact they cave even more compared to modern vehicles IMO.
Someone should have posted "WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES" in the headlines of this post, i think i'm gonna be sick! Glad to see some of the cars are being rebuilt and everybody is ok.
I makes me sick to see all these cars. I was just thinking last week that alot of the cars that were totaled & parted out were better then some of the cars that are being saved today. I worked in a junk yard in the late 70's to the mid 80's & remember all the cars that we parted & crushed that could have been saved but back then they were just cars to most people.
I had a few cars totaled by drunks but don't have pictures. The car I miss the most was a 1965 Pontiac 2+2 421 4sp that a drunk totaled that could have been saved if I had the funds at the time. At least the 421 & 4sp were used in other cars.
After looking at the pics in this thread an un-imformed person would draw the conclusion that ALL 70-72 Chevelles, El Caminos and Camaros must have had factory-applied hood and deck lid stripes.
