Just picked up one with minor body damage, rusty exaust, and a light tap in the engine. $1100 with 130k on the clock. 4 banger auto, drives decient and stops on a dime. I figure if the engine goes we can part it out for more then we paid for it, so it is worth picking up. Anyone have experence, either good or bad, with these?

I think I am going to do the timing belt before much of anything else, I do not want to have to deal with a snaped belt and engine replacement later when it is just to dam easy to do it before it is a problem. I am about to start prowling the talon forums now

has to be a turbo AWD otherwise not worth it IMO. But they are cool little cars and very moddable.

I agree. They arent bad cars as far as reliability goes. But if its not a turbo, getting your money out of it in parts may be tough.

They might be reliable stock but even with minor mods that goes out the window.

DSMs are money pits. Fun money pits, but money pits just the same.

Just got back from a epic inspection fail. Turns out the car has bends in the unibody frame that should not be there... Now I cannot tag it in Georgia. Short of removing the frame from the body and welding on new rails on both sides that is. When the woman got the title she did not tell me it said rebuilt salvage, when I found out I took it to get inspected and found out that I am skrewed.

I presume its already bought and paid for? I would go back to the seller. Not that it would help but what can ya do.

Bought and paid for. The car drives great and gets awsome milage, pisses me off to no end. I hate to have to do it but its time to pull out the shady used car tactics. Got a bonded title last night and hopefully she already has the tag in hand.
