Found one of these for sale. 2000kms (1200 miles) on it. It is another town but have a guy going to look at it for me today. I already have my 406sbc sitting on a stand in the garage and the 496 in the car. I really don't need another engine but I guess for now I could call it garage art.

Put lightly, with the right cam and heads, that 6.0 will embarass the 496. This, coming from a guy with both. Just a fundamental design change that made engines undar 7.4 really really fast for usually less money that a 496. Don't get me wrong, you can do an AFR headed Straub cammed, 10:5:1 496 that will out power an LS NA. But take a set of 842s, port them, match the cam and springs, and you got something you never expected.
My 6.0 combo is an LQ4, ported 862s, Comp HR .629 lift, Eddy carb intake and ignition. Best ET to date NA is 10.86@123.40. In a 78 Malibu, 4.10 12 bolt, 3500 stall, TH350 on 275 DRs. Raceweight is 3312 with me in it with a DA of _400
