Thumbs up Re: How to cut carpet for seat tracks

Here are my pics...

1st.. Photo of my cars original carpet, with the seat track cuts in it.
I highlighted the cuts in red. Green dots are the locations of the studs or bolts.

Closeup of the result, hidden seat track foot.

And cause i'm proud of myself, full shot showing my newly recovered seats, and the new carpet.

Sure looks better than an ugly metal track foot sitting ontop of the carpet!

Hope this helps some folks

Installed my carpet over the last few days, and thanks for this thread. I can say that I messed up a bit and if you have a jute backing attached to the carpet be ready to replace your blade a few times.

Great great great!

I also replaced my carpet w/ jute backing a few months ago. I did have to replace the blade many times. (maybe 6 blades) Amazing how quick they dull.

Thanks Phill. My son and me just did it like you showed, and came out nice. We probably would have set the seats on top of the carpet, as I could not find any info in the assembley manual, and we both have Olds 442, and the seats are on top, not saying it was correct. So thanks, it does look better, especially, like my sons car, some were studs, and some were bolts, now you can't see any of them.

I'm going to let RAMBO install my carpets 2-3 times so that I get the system down perfectly

As I'm looking at replacing my carpet very soon (doing it backwards as usual, would have been easier to do when I did the seats not 6 months ago) I thought I would look up any helpful tips and as usual found this. I was wondering about those ugly track feet that now standout like a sore thumb, THANKS AGAIN TO THE CONTRIBUTORS!!!!!!!!
