I for the life of me can't figure out how to get the lighter out of my dash for a 70 Chevelle SS. I've searched the forums and several talk about a nut that holds it in but I don't see anything like this on mine. Anyone have any ideas?

Isn't it a "sleeve" that screws on from the backside of the instrument panel. You can spin it off by hand in most cases.

I guess its just rusted because the part of the socket you see from the front turns when I turn from the back. I'll use some WD-40, thanks for the confirmation.

I usualy just stick my finger in the front, or anything to keep the inside part from spinning and spin the back with my other hand and it comes right out. Take a look at the thumbnail of the inner and outer parts

Mid Life, thanks for the picture it was really helpful. It took some persuading but I was able to get it out.
