Default OIL Level 396

How many quarts does a 396 take it came from 70 -75 truck short deck factor oil pan, i believe the person before me installed a chrome shaft and dipstick and it shows to be low with 5 quarts as

drain it, pour 4 qts in, mark the stick.

Once you find the right height, take a tube cutter and cut the tube if to long. I have seen those chrome tubes, seem to be a little universal, to fit different engines.
