John,
The color percentages are pretty straightforward and explained at http://www.camaros.org/exterior.shtml#ColorPercentages. I generated them using about 15,000 datapoints. They aren't any different than any other option percentage, other than since there are so many colors, even the most popular color is only 12% in 69. 12% by itself could be considered rare!

The misrepresentation of data will always be an issue. The problem really manifests itself when option percentages are combined. Those #'s can be way off!

btw, Len gave us permission to use the production data from his book (I've since seen the originals in GM archives) in http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml#RPOSpreadsheet.
Len passed away in 2005.

A long time ago (maybe 8 - 10 years ago?) I actually e-mailed Len, trying to get a hold of his book. I must have gotten his e-mail from a Cars & Parts magazine where he wrote in a letter about production figures for 3-speed column shifted Monte Carlos. Anyway, I guess by that time the printing run was finished and he didn't have anything else to offer.

As I remember back in 1969/70, colors like bright yellow and orange were common as the hot colors for musclecars.

I have a 69 X77 , paint code 76 with factory 4 wheel disc brakes sitting right down the street. Its outside under a cover and is in pretty good shape. If anyone is interested in it let me know. The only problem is that he knows what he has. It is black now and needs work.

I disagree. That car is an easy fix today. If you can do all the work your self it would not cost anywhere near that much. Any 69 Z28 is worth restoring with or without the original drive train. If the car was a little closer I would be all over it.
