I think that is an original "Birdwellism".

Yup. I need to publish my own dictionary....

Janky (JANK-ee) noun; 1. Something that is cobbled together, with new parts or used, but is still incorrect for the vehicle.

Hoopty (HOOP-tee) noun; 1. Any vehicle that has mismatched paint, rust showing, torn interior parts/pieces, a Jensen or Kraco speaker on the floor etc... especially applies if the car is Red with primer.... like mine

Hey Dave, I think I know of another red/primer '70 Super Sport. But she still at least runs good.

So if a car has a foot print gas pedal in it, does that classify it as hoopty?

One thing I never noticed on this '70 454 car. The vacuum line coming from the booster is connected to the manifold. It kind of caught me off guard since my '71 has the line going to the base of the carb.

Geez, all these different qualifications for a hoopty. I'm going to have to start taking notes.

Brake lines wrapping around the back of the booster aren't just on SS cars. My smallblock with original power brakes is the same.

I look at lots of hoopties and jankys from craigslist everyday
We used to call them toilets, but decided we'd get into the 21st century
Watch out for hoopties with big dukey pipes too
...and this is my 22,000 post

The mershon car also has the correct upper alternator bracket, but the wrong pulley and probably the wrong the alternator
