I have a nice stock looking 67 SS Rag top. I'm thinking of lowering it and adding some aftermarket rims and tires.
Anybody out there done one? If so I would love to see some pictures and get some details. Thanks guys |

Here's my '66...
I used Hotchkis "1-inch drop springs", 17X 9.5 wheels with 275/40-17 tires all around. I had planned to lower it a little more, but ended up selling it before I got that far...

SPC uppers and lowers in the front, AFX spindles, Varishock coil overs. C5 calipers at all four corners. 3/4" drop springs in the rear. ZZ454 create motor with a M21. 285 40 17 rears, 255 45 17 in the front. Lots of fun!

Can you post the details on your wheels, etc? Backspace? What brakes are you using? Any rubbing issues? 275 seems big for the front, to me, but I have never tried either. Im still running 15" wheels! ![]() Nice car by the way!! |

I ran 275's on 9.5" wheels in the front with the stock suspension. It only became a problem when I started messing around with aftermarket parts and trying to go lower.....

I previously ran 265/50-15 up front ( kind of short tire though) and REALLY low (3+ inches lower than in those pictures) with very few rubbing issues ( rubbed the sway bar at full lock)... The 275/40/17 were on 17X9.5" wheels. I used 6.0 Inches of backspace to keep them far from the outer fender lip. I new any rubbing inside would be annoying, BUT any rubbing outside would/could cause visible blemishes. Still cleared fine inside. I was running C5 Corvette brakes on stock spindles (Kore3 brackets). Stock upper and lower arms with poly bushings, Eibach springs, 1-1/4" sway bar (F-body, IIRC) My wheels needed an extra spacer (1/8" because the calipers where close to the wheel/spokes) and the C5 conversion pushed the wheel out slightly over a stock disc system (IIRC), so those factors were taken into account with the increased BS... The rear used 5.5" BS. 6" would work in the back, but IMO the tires would be "in" too far...
