Default How can one identify a real 1980 ElCo SS from a 1980 ElCo

Found one and owner/seller claims its real. Buckets and console standard Equipment or option? Anyone know what to look for on the data plate/cowl tag for #'s ?

I have seen ss and standard elcamino's from the 80's with both buckets and consoles. I think its more of an appearance package but I may be wrong. Im seeing more of those around lately. I like them ,good luck.

I had a brand new '79 SS. Buckets and console were extra cost along with the gauges. It was basically a trim package.I still have the window sticker somewhere.

Don't those cars have the sticker in the glovebox or under the panel in the trunk that's over the spare that lists the VIN and all the accessories installed on the car? That would sure help. The '84 Celebrity we had sure had one. So does my '69 pickup.

A real SS would have Z15 on the cowl tag (at least my 81 does)

Its a shame all that the SS was reduced to was an appearance package by the late 70s.
