Default 68 Parking brake release handle removal?

I've got a new one, took the push nut off the release rod and can't get the old handle off. Are there any tricks to remove this? I thought they just threaded on, but apparently not.

For a 68.

If you're talking about the plastic "T" handle, Yes it screws on. You may have to pull and turn at the same time. I just put one on my Chevelle a few weeks ago.

How about a little heat? Not like a flame or anything but maybe some hot water to help loosen it?

It spun easily, I pulled on it too and it just kept spinning. I will try the heat idea as it has been pretty chilly in the garage lately. After that its getting broken off.

Just keep pulling and turning, the worst that can happen is you strip the threads in the plastic handle which will be replaced anyway.

At this point, I'd just bust it up with vise grips, or put a C-clamp on it, and squeeze until it cracks off. You can't hurt the threaded rod. The plastic will come apart before any damage to the rod.
