hey Jacquie I got a question. In the GM parts catalog I have, it list the part #6485257 followed by a CE. It does not show a CO in any applications. Is this a case where this CE has nothing to do with the CO???? Thanks Mark

Mark, I don't know what the GM part number is. There are no part numbers stamped on the air cleaner itself. CO is the designation on the buildsheet...I don't think that has anything to do with a part number.

Hi Folks. I just signed up as a new member as I really enjoy this community. I am trying to restore my Chevelle that I have owned for nearly 30 years and I am hoping you can provide some guidance. My build sheet has an "SS" in box 55. Is this an open air cleaner? My SS is a stripe delete, no A/C and just a domed hood. It is a true LS6 (I am very fortunate and thank the great car gods many years ago for my find!).

Welcome to Team Chevelle, Jim. That sounds like an awesome car you have. You might want to introduce yourself in the welcome forum! We'd love to see some pictures!
Box #55 will have either a CO code for the dual snorkel or SS for the open element breather.

Ditto, SS is the same code used on the L34 engine without cowl induction hood. FWIW, neither SS option came with hood & deck stripes sothey couldn't be deleted, they just weren't ordered. The stripes (as well as the hood pins) were part of the ZL2 cowl induction hood package in 1970 and could be deleted from the ZL2 package.
I'd like to invite you to take a look at the LS6 Registry and consider having your car listed there - http://ls6registry.com

Maybe it's an optical illusion or just my middle-aged eyes, but in the ebay air cleaner pic, it sure looks to me like the carburetor hole is 2-barrel sized.
