I'm having one heck of a time getting my upper back (back rest) seat cover to fit over the upper back seat frame in the 66 SS 2 -door coupe. The covers fit the lower back seat (seat portion) fine and the buckets as well. Seat covers are PUI - color is two-tone fawn.
I tried to put the cover on it multiple times, even drawing down the frame springs to allow for easier application. I tried the top as the top, then the top as the bottom (in case I had it backwards) -- still no fit... I figure it's one of the 2 following things: 1). Cover is wrong (though the PUI plastic bag that the cover came in identified it for the correct car and car type) 2. Upper frame (back rest) is wrong (would not be the first thing that was wrong with the car as it was a mess when I received it) Measurement for the back seat upper (back rest) is as follows: across the top = 55 inches across the bottom = 57 inches The seat frame does fit in the back seat with no issues If someone can confirm these measurements, I have a wrong seat cover and will get look at purchasing a new cover. If these measurements are wrong, then I'll be looking for a new back seat upper (back rest) frame. Thanks, |

John,
Sorry I haven't done this yet - but I will get you the measurements tomorrow or Sunday; I have to dig the seat out of my shed.

Thanks a million....
Looks like I have the correct size frame, so it must be the seat cover that is off.... |

John if the problem is with width is it possible you have a convertible rear seat cover as they are a bit narrower I believe?

Thanks, though I believe the bag it came in said "Coupe". Of course a "Convertible" cover could have slipped into the "Coupe" bag... just my luck... The back seat cover (bottom) fit fine, so I'll assume that the bottom frames are the same on a 66 Coupe and Convertible. |

My PUI top cover didn't fit the best either. When installed the bottom of the back didn't show, so the guy that put on the covers put it in that way.
PUI's rear door panels also were a problem. And they sent me the wrong front door windowfelts, (two different ones available depending upon placement of clips). If I had to do it again, I would put on the Legendary covers for a 66, that are available now.

Thanks all fro the responses.
I haven't got to the door panels yet..... but I'll be looking for that now. I'll probably order a back seat set real soon from PUI since I have the fronts already completed... not sure of the match if I get Legendary rear set and the PUI fronts......... Thanks, |

Both the upper and lower convertible seats are shorter than the coupe... I no longer have my convert, but I'd estimate the convertible seats are 6 inches shorter than a coupe seat...

Can you guys tell me if a 4dr rear seat is the same as a 2dr coupe? I need a rear seat for my 66 SS and might know of a 4dr sedan.

No, they are not the same. Good seat frames are getting hard to find, but I believe any A-body of the same years will fit.
