Default SBC 350 Engine swap ?

Sorry non Chevelle
My BILs original 350 engine blew up in his 89 Chevy truck 4x4.
Iam considering buying the truck, but the replacment engine I have is in my old 76 Chevy 4x4 with a 350

Will I be able to swap the older 76 engine into the newer 89 truck without having a bunch of bracket and/or other problems?
I dont have book or anything that tells me it is or is not possible.Thought I would ask here before I got bad info somewhere else.

I know I would have to swap the intake if possible, and other brackets and water pump from the newer to the old...but not sure if I will run into accy hole problems that would not allow me to do this swap.

Anybody that has ever done this type of swap or know if its possible that can give me any answers would be great!
Thanks in advance

His is TBI, you'll need to change the center two intake manifold holes angle, but that's easy with nothing more than a drill and bit, doesn't even need to be sharp. Other than that, you should be able to swap everything over and keep all the brackets and accessories original to the truck. I've done a few of this kind of swap and it's sure nice to have a pair of engine stands so you can just roll everything over rather than having crap pile up.

Gary,Thanks for the reply, so I am guessing I would need to use intake gaskets for an 89 rather than for a 76 or would that matter?

Another small issue is that it is a serpentine belt setup, and I could be wrong, but the waterpump is probably a reverse rotation. Youll also need a blockoff for the fuel pump. Aside from that I cant think of anything else.

I didnt realize that you already had the info about the reverse rotation waterpump. Ive had 2 K5 Blazers and I loved them...swapped the same TBI 350 around a couple of times, and lastly departed with it in my ole 92 silverado. Just take your time pulling the old motor out...there are some annoying clips on the back of the heads that hold the fuel lines in place and some other items...I cant recall right now. Kind of a pain in the ass, but not too bad. The one great thing is that all the TBI harness stuff can only plug into one specific location.

The mounting of the flywheel/flexplate to the crankshaft is different, but the original clutch/torque converter should bolt to either type.
You will be missing one hole in the head for the serpentine bracket on the passenger side. GM states it is not needed if the AC brace is installed. I have a write up with photos of drilling and tapping that hole if you need it.
