That number is a tail housing for a Muncie 4 speed from a 1970 – 1974 w/passenger side speedo & 32 spline output.
Tag still on it? Also might look for the trans serial number -stamped and starts with P. Last edited by Mike; Jun 21st, 09 at 2:26 PM. |

P = Muncie
1 = 1971 T = December 10 = Day of month A = M20 Also look for a partial VIN stamped on it along with the tag ,if the tag's still there. |

3925661 = 1970 - 1974 main case
Depending on casting date ,could be either tailhousing: 3846429 = 1963 "Thin Fin Tail" Driver speedo 27 spline 3846429 = 1963-1965 Regular thick web, driver speedo, 27 spline |

Ok, THANKS AGAIN!!!! Heres the deal... my Dad had this car, (70 Chevelle SS 454 LS-6) for years, i mean i will be 41 in Aug and i remember this car when i was a kid, well 2 yrs ago in Mrch my Dad passed and i ended up with it, motor is in it dont remember if the tranny is in it or not, I got it stored in my buddys shed, it needs to be restored, but i mean it is in pretty good shape, but i would restore it cause thats what my Dad always wanted so I'm just goin through all his extra parts and stuff, the car is all together, just needs to be redone, another thing is i got ahold of the original owner (only lives 30 miles from me) and i remember when my Dad had it the motor #s were not coming up, so after my Dad passed i got ahold of this guy and he said at 21k miles GM put in a replacement shortblock, so i dont know....... but thats where i am, well Thanks Again for all your help........ Thanks, Russ
