Default Trying to replace canceling cam

I've got the steering wheel off but there's a plate with slots for the steering wheel lock. Does anyone know how to remove it? Thanks in advance. By the way it's a 70 chevelle. Thanks again!

Not sure but I believe thats called the Lockring plate. It is held in with a hard to see c clip type retainer. Its best to buy a Lockplate removal tool tpo push it down enough to remove the clip.

I just pushed the lockplate down a little and got the clip off with a small screwdriver.

That's fine until you have to put it back on.
Then you'll need the lock plate tool.
