I just came across a really nice 454 gen v std bore ,,,,it has 14097088 heads ,,,,,im wanting to put on,,,I have a set of 2239n pistons 438 dome (closed chamberd),,The rods i have laying around are a dogbone style (with a dimple on the side) going into the open chamberd heads ,,,I think this should yeild around 10.5 comp.....
It also comes with a comp cam 294 hydraulic roller,lifters,,, 550 lift 248 duration @ 50.... ANY 1 USE THIS CAM ???? Sounds a little small ok what do you think of this combo ?, and why cant i find much info on Gen V are these junk or what? looks like a 6qt pan ,,will the pan fit a 67 chevelle ?? anything will help thanks |

GenV is junk, so send it to me.
(sarcasm) I am not sure about the heads, but everything else sounds great. Maybe someone else will chime in on the heads. |

Some Mark IV pistons won't clear a Gen 5/6 crankshaft counterweight. Be sure your pistons actually fit.
The OEM oil pan is for pickup trucks and such; GM and the aftermarket have oil pans that'll fit various car bodies. Might want to verify that the pan will clear your crossmember... The Gen 5/6 use different balance weights on the flywheel for cast vs. forged cranks--but--most all the cranks are cast so you "probably" have the correct flywheel. |
