First off I have 2 69 chevells. My sister has a 69 camaro. I bult a 383 years ago for her car. It is an old school short rod motor. The cam is a crane hmv278. 278/290 advertised, 222/234 @.050 467/494 lift. TRW L2256 flat tops with 4 balve reliefs. It has a victor jr. and a 4777 650dp holley, Full msd ignition, hooker super comp 1 3/4 headers. 2500 converter, 3.73 gears. I dont know how much the car weighs, but it goes verry well.
It has 76cc 993 casting factoty iron heads on it now, and her birthday is commong up. I was looking at the AFR195's? And what chamber size? I am lookin for sugestions on picking the right head for this aplication. As always, thanks for getting me the right info before i do the wrong thing. I think the AFR 195's would be the best choice. The 180's may actually match the cam a little better, but if she ever wanted to throw something more agressive in there, I think the 195's would provide a lot more room to grow. They should also still work really well with that cam.
I would also consider buying a performer RPM air gap intake someday. The Victor JR and the cam you are using dont really match up with eachother very well. Other than that, a different cam at some point should also wake things up quite a bit if you went with the AFR 195 heads and it could still be a streetable car. I think the following Lunati cam with some 1.6 rockers would be a good choice. http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=1984&gid=287 Adam

I would go with a 72cc if they come that way. A 64cc will be up in the 10.9 : 1.

I had not noticed the pistons she had. I agree with the larger combustion chambers. AFR offers the 195's with 75cc chambers. I come up with 9.66:1 with a .045 quench with those pistons in a 383. According to summit, they have a 6.1cc dish due to the valve reliefs.
