Just want everyone's opinion, on what to buy for detailing with micro fiber cloths or towels?
70% polyester / 30% polyamide, or 80% polyester/ 20% polyamide ? and which brand works best for you? Thanks for everyone's reply;s , on this issue |

I use nothing but thick napped, soft terry towels. You don't need to waste your money.

I don't know about the blend, but I would never use terry cloth again after using the microfiber towels. I've used terry clotch for years and have nearly 50lbs. of clean terry cloth that I used for cleaning my car, but after using micro fiber stuff I use the terry to wipe motor and clean the underside of the car.

Once you use microfiber you'll never go back. I've been using the orange microfiber towels from Target for the past few years. They work great and seem to be of a good quality, the right size and thickness. They don't fall apart in the wash and I keep reusing them. Perfect for polishing, buffing, drying and dusting. Worth the money and they don't cost alot anyway.

I bought some expensive ones from the company I get my fancy wax system from and they work great. On a whim I bought some very inexpensive ones from Harbor Freight ($5 for three if I remember correctly) and while they don't feel as substantial as the expensive ones they work just as well. I also don't feel as hesitant to use them in areas where they may get snagged or really dirty.
Not sure of the material content on either of them.

I agree.
I use some yellow ones I get from Costco. a 15 pack is 9 dollars. You can wash them and reuse. Only thing is, do not use any fabric softener in them. Makes them nearly useless afterward.

They're definetly not a waste of money. I bought some good ones and a big package of cheap ones at Murray's, auto parts store. They both work good.
If the car get's a little dirty or bugs on the front I use those and clean water, no soap to clean it up and dry it at the same time. I've washed my whole truck with nothing but a micro-wipe and bucket of clean water, again no soap. As long as there is no grease or road tar on it that's all you need. They work the same on windows, car or house. Clean water is the key, rinse it out often. Just wipe the windows down and let them dry, no streaks, no water spot. |

Thumbs up from me also. I don't know the blend but they are made by turtle wax. 3 pack was about $6. They work great, better than terry cloth. Especially for dust on my black car!

I bought some meguiars ones from work. They worked REALLY well and I went to wash them, no soaap just water and when I took them out they were thin and rough! So, i got some house brand (CSK auto) ones in a 25 pack. They're nice and big and I washed one and it came out brand new.

At Hot August Nites in Reno, I talked to the rep for Adams care car Products (waxes, polishes, etc.) about the microfiber towel issue. Adams sells high -priced microfiber towels. The Adams rep said Costco microfiber towels (and other low-priced ones) had (hard) nylon stitching in the hem which could scratch a car's surface. He said the Adams towels did not have the nylon thread. FWIW
