Default How much power will a 1330 joint handle

Just wondering how much power a 1330 u joint will handle when at the trans slip yoke? When I bought my tko I was told that the slip yoke could hold either a 1330 or 1350--was made for 1330's. I am having a new driveshaft made and the guy said he could build it so I have a 1350 in the rear, which I have a pinion yoke for a 1350, and then put the 1330 up front. Does this make since or should I just buy an over priced trans yoke that will hold a 1350? This is an all street car with no slicks, but does have a 574hp 385. My question is will the 1330 trans yoke and parts handle this much power behind a straight gear trans. I have to make a decision in the next day or so.

A 1330 will be fine if that's what you have. I ran 1310's front and back on my car with the grease fittings. This was with 625 hp and a trans brake going 10.30's .

By the Spicer book, a 1310 u joint is rated for130 lb.ft. torque;800 short duration.1330 @150;890 short; 1350 @210; 1240 short . I would recommend upgrading now and eliminate the weak link

Is there a way to have a 1350 joint in the front with the caps to fit the 1330 slip yoke? If that is possible then I can have it made for 1350's front and rear and upgrade the slip yoke at a later time.

They do make hybrid joints but you need a good parts person to go through the book I'm not positive on your application though if you get stuck I have a good parts person to go to or BGH should know.

You will be fine. I ran a 1310 in a 4000# 4spd car that ran 10.90s with no problems but you must keep an eye on them.

I guess that is what I will do then. Just to make sure you understood, I have a 1350 at the pinion yoke and the slip yoke at the trans is the only 1330. So I should be okay like this is what ya'll are saying?

If you wanna' go that route, Neapco part number 2-3050 is a 1330/1350 conversion u-joint.

Well, just to let everyone know, I decided to be safe than regret my decision. I went ahead and ordered the driveshaft with 1350's front and rear and I will just get another slip yoke for a 1350 joint. I am not sure who makes my slip yoke and with all the foreign stuff around anymore I didn't know if it was US made or not. Like I said better safe than sorry, you know what the driveshaft will tear up if it comes apart at speed!!!!!

1310 series spicer 1,620 foot pounds
1330 series spicer 1,840 foot pounds
1350 series spicer 2,210 foot pounds

My new used car has 1350 driveshaft and front tranny yoke with a 1310 rear pinion yoke. Go figure.

Anyway it was a 10.50 car and I am not aware of any U Joint problems.

But I am changing the rear pinion yoke to 1350.

Cheap insurance.
