HI guys.

i was here about a year ago looking for a friends old car , it has been an on and off search. not found it yet or the owner. so I will post the photo I hope it OK here.
This was in the 80's in Willowdale Ontario Canada.
1969 Chevelle 427/4 speed , bucket seat, wood wheel , SS hood, at the time it had 4:88 gears. the car ran at Cayuga regularly.
any help would be great. I believe the car was a COPO but can not confirm that at this time.

thanks

Post it here for better exposure if it's a possible COPO:

I have been there before but posted it again, I also put it up on other forums with the hope that someone from my area may recognize it.

I don't want to start any rumors, but Scott Gayle in Oakville has a beautifully restored Frost Green '69 COPO that I seem to recall hearing it had once been repainted black during its earlier racing days. I wonder...
His car has dark green interior and the standard wheel. Your picture seems to show aftermarket highback buckets.

You mention Willowdale in the early 80's, I remember a Monaco Orange '69 SS396 with a black vinyl top & interior running around in Willowdale circa '81. It was super clean and straight. It was running Centerline wheels, and judging by the sound it was running a hot solid lifter big block with a Bang!-Screech! automatic.

A friend in Ancaster (near Hamilton) owned a Lemans Blue '69 COPO with Parchment bucket seat interior & an M21 or M22. After repainting it a generic blue & putting diamond pattern upholstery in it he rebuilt the replacement L72 to L88 specs & punched it out to 440 cubes . He sold it in '84 and I have no idea what happened to it since. Attached is the original Auto Trader ad from late '79 that alerted him to the car. Note the claim of 1000 427 Chevelles built by Chevy. There were a lot fewer than that, but the COPO cars were pretty much unknown back then except for the few who bought them or raced them.

This car was fathom green at the time but I do not recall if it was the original color, I believe I contacted Scott a year or so ago and I think we determind his was a different car . Pete removed the factory buckets and put in the racing seats along with the roll bar, when Pete raced the car it looked as it is in the photo here. he ran some 15x8 steel vette wheels with slicks, the rims were painted gold.

I appreciate the feed back pass that photo around if you can, in the spring I am going to bring them to some cruise nights and hope for the best.

thanks again

Al
