My son just bought a 69 Chevelle. Unfortunately it did not pass emmissions. Searching for the problem, I noticed that most of the vacuum lines where gone. Does anyone have a copy of the vacuum diagrams that I could get a copy of so that I can start searching for the problem.

The vacuum routings (for 69's)are still pretty simple and may not be the problem with your emissions test. I have 2 Chevelles on the road and they both pass nicely with different vacuum setups. Do you have to pass idle only ? (That is what I have to do in Tucson). If so, then you need to work on retarding your spark and getting the leanest mixture that will give a smooth idle.

No, In Maricopa county you must pass both and idle and an underload test. I agree that the vacuum lines should be simple, but in this case, there are no lines. If I had a diagram so that I could find out what was supposed to be where, then I could eliminate this.

I just finished a Frame off of a 70 SB400, failed both idle tests, the CO was twice what it should be 10.42 with the cutoff at 5.00, the HC was 537 where 450 is the cutoff. The loaded(cruising)tests both passed easily. Any ideas before I take it to a hack just to get it thru? Please hurry in your replies as my temp tag only lasts till 4/18/01. Thanks
