I need to install a headliner. There is nothing there currently, just bare metal and the 5 bows. my question is concerning the two "corners" in the rear next to the rear seat. do these get covered with material as well, or are there panels to place here? there is a small square protruding from the body, so it seems as if a panel would attach to that. any help is appreciated. thanks.

The panels that get installed there are called "sail panels" and are covered in headliner material. Usually, there is enough material left over from the headliner installation to recover the panels, but I think they are also available preassembled if yours are missing.

I just purchased a kit for my 70.It comes w/ the headliner, sail panel hardboard, material to cover sail panels and sun visors.Glue and new dome light and base, and coat hooks. It cost me about $20.00 more then just the headliner. The glue and coat hooks still are on back order,so I had to go to local shop and by glue.I also cleaned up my bows and shot them w/ a coat of paint.Figured it would be better to stick painted bows in my new headliner instead of kinda rusty ones.

sail panels are what your lookin for. cover them with extra material and put them up.
BTW your a fan of Tulane baseball?
Do you hit the New Orleans cruise nights, I don't think I recognize your car.

yeah, I hope the headliner kit I ordered has enough extra material for the sail panels. otherwise, I'll have to make do, since this isn't a show car anyways. I'm a huge fan of Tulane everything, since I'm a student there. I have no idea they even had NO cruise nights. If you see this, please e-mail me or reply about all the details. I'd love to attend. Not too many here are from NO or LA even. Thanks.

None are actually in New Orleans I don't think. The one's I like to attend are mainly in the suburbs.(I.E. Jefferson and St. Bernard)
Here's a breakdown of the local one's I know about:
These are all on Saturday night.
2nd of the month there is one at The Palms casino in Chalmette but it's kind of smallish.
3rd sat. of the month there is one in Meraux in the Mcdonalds parking lot and one on Jefferson highway in the Frostops parking lot.
4th sat. of the month is the big show in Elmwood in front of the Fox and Hound. There are usually over 300 cars at that one.
I think on the 1st sat. of the month I think they have some on the westbank but I'm not sure.
On fridays paper on the front page of the Auto section at the bottem they give you a list of all of them for that week.
Let me know if your gonna go to any so I can look out for your car. ;)
See you around

I am going to start going to those, sounds like fun. But I'm flying out to San Diego in 2 weeks for my summer naval training, and I'll be there for 4 weeks. After that, we'll see each other I'm sure. My chevelle is bright yellow with black racing stripes. It's also a post car. see ya around.

Don't forget to put up insulation glued to the metal to keep the inside cool in the summer or warm in the winter. I can't find any made for the El Camino but there's a four piece set made for Chevelles.
