Help!!!! I own a 65 Z16 Chevelle. It is up for a national award with one of the national clubs. They are judging it from the pictures for this award. My car has a small red wire going from the positive battery cable at the battery to the radiator support. From there I believe it goes to the starter, but not sure. Anyway, the judges are questioning if such a wire was standard equipment and they have asked me to provide a wiring diagram to prove that it is correct. I have no clue where I could find this information. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Dave

Call True Connections in Riverside, Ca. Ask for Dick Brandt. He is a Z-16 expert. Good luck! Tell him that Jeff told you to call him. I believe the wire you are referring to is in fact, stock. It goes to a block, mounted on the core support, and powers up all battery powered accessories like for instance, headlights, interior lights, etc.

And they have judges that can't tell if this wire is correct or not.

And they're judging by pictures?

The wiring diagram in the AIM shows the red wire from the positive side of the battery going to the junction block on the rad support and from there branching off as Dean noted. I think these junction blocks have been around since 1965 (1964 AIM doesn't show one).
