I thought the article about putting an LS1 combo into the camino was cool, but I wish they went into more detail about the swap. Now for the big question will the price for Camino's go up.:hurray::beers:

I agree. Everyone wants them to go up. Personally, I am hoping they go down or at least stay the same. That way I can get another. More for us in the long run.

I guess next months issue will cover the wiring, tuneup, etc. I just hope they spend more time on this project then filling the mag up with ads, etc.

i used the fbody accessories except i didnt need the ps pump. the hardest part was figuring out the alternator, but i just modified the stock alternator bracket and made it work and didnt have to spend any extra money on it.

Since I own a '70 Elky SS, I'm hoping that the popularity of muscle cars and the escallating prices of same make the desireabilty of El Caminos go up as the asking prices for Chevelles continue to go through the roof.

I think where the line of demarkation lies is between big blocks and small blocks. The mind set of today's buyer is "I gotta have a big block and I'll pay the price to get one" and that's where the difference lies. You are seeing more threads regarding LS5's and LS6's here on TC than ever before. We're caught up in a cubic inch mentality.

sorry ...... but in IMHO ;)

I'm not it this hobby for the money !! never have been, never wanted to be !! my reasoning for owning & buying so may cars ...... An DAMN I've owned a Bunch !! was all for my personal enjoyment , as I'm sure MANY of us through the years bought what every struck our "OH OH Damn thats Cool" button :D
now after weathering the bad time's (gas shortages/killer Insurance rates/Imposible to find parts ) A bunch of richer then GOD.... (collectors/ a@@holes) have stepped in to drive the true protectors of this hobby OUT !! by pricing OUR cars out of the realm of ownership of the normal hobbyist .... MY 2 Cents ....

With the price of gasoline becoming what it is, I think the bigblock craze is going to ease and smallblock cars will become nearly as desirable. I know,, most people that buy ready-built restorations are not really effected by the price of a gallon of gas. And the whole SS <insert big block inches here> will always be more valuable to the collector than the smallblock cars. BUT,, you will always have guys like me. I could have built anything I wanted,,, just so happens 'this' build I wanted to stay with the original little 327. And give the little mini mouse motor all of the technology and efficiency we have in todays fuel injected, efficient computer controled engine managment systems.
I REFUSE to have a garage trophy. And this thing WILL get driven, even if it's just driven to the shows. Just thought it would be nice to get all the way to the car show without having to fill up twice along the way!!! ;)

The beauty of the new LS1 and even more the new LS6 is that big block power is easily attainable without the added weight. The secret is the valve angle on the heads. It allows for some tremedous breathing capabilities and some huge horsepower values while remaining totally driveable.

It took me years to warm up to the LS series motor but now that I have, I'm totally phasing out of the GEN 1 motors.

Lots of Chevelle/LS swap information to be found in the "Pro-Touring" section right here on TC. :)
