I suppose that by now, most people know that if you have the large, 14in diameter, 168 tooth flywheel for a MANUAL TRANNY (which requires the large bell housing), then the cast iron starter nose is required.
I was down to zero iron noses and when I called my Chev parts guy, he told me it was discontinued. So, next, I called my local starter/alternator shop. They had one brand new one (probably made by the same people who supplied Chev) in stock for $20. I bought it. I think I will have them get me a couple more.
I mention all of the above, so that if any of you are comtemplating the installation of a 168 tooth flywheel, you may want to start looking for an iron nose soon. ONLY the iron nose will work with the big manual bell housing. But either the alum or iron nose will work with an auto tranny.
