welded up a shifter mount for the velle, b&m mega shifter did not sit flat, welded up two pieces of angle to fit floor. welded bolts up through bottom for mounting shifter and welded mount to floor. also welded up holes from old shifters in floor, still have to weld up hole that someone hacked in floor for old shifter cable.

The original brackets from the staple shifter will not work. I did something similar to what he did except I used two pieces of 3" channel clamshelled together until i got the height right. I then welded them together at that height. I tapped the top channel so i could bolt the shifter to it without nuts. The bottom channel has some cut off 1/4" bolts in it so I could level the hole thing to the hump and then when it sat nice I ran some self tapping screws through it to fasten it down.

I made a trim panel to lay in the console where the old staple shifte bezel was. The hurst shifter cover now bolts to the panel and it looks damn close to a factory install. I have had quite a few guys ask me how I went about it after seeing it. Wish I had taken some pictures of the mount but I didn't...

Somewhere I have some pictures of the finished product if you're interested, I'll try to find them.

Sorry for not being around in a few years, had a battle with cancer shortly after my last post working on the chevelle. boat racing took over after that for a few years and then we were hit by sandy, i lost a lot of the chevelle parts in the storm.
I have started back on the chevelle project and i am also still rebuilding from sandy..
