I know there is other brands out besides bondo but i looking for a bondo type filler i can use over some body work i have been doing what is the best to use that will last along time and not start the crack and chip
I second the 3m gold QBA,and 3m premium.I have also been using Upol's Monarch gold and find it very nice and easy sanding.I have been using rage gold for about the last ten years wanted to try something else.I probably won't be using it again anytime soon, there are better products out there now.
I've been using Evercoats Rage, and Evercoats basic lightweight filler. Both seem about the same for sandability/flexability. I'd stay Far, Far, Far away from "Bondo". I used that Bondo Crap on an old car I had years ago (an old caprice classic), and it cracked in no more then 2 months. I have also heard the 3m gold qba is awesome stuff, but cost a bit more so I've heard.
For the money, I think Rage is sufficient for most repairs.
I used Rage Extreme and the Evercoat Metal Glaze on the '69. Also used Metal-Metal on certain areas. I did an experiment with Metal-Metal : immersed a cured piece of it in water for about a week to check for softening & swelling. I know it has a small amount of talc in it, but there was no sign of swelling after 7 days under water. Rage Extreme takes a little elbow grease to mould, Metal-Metal needs machine power - it is brutal to shape.
I've used Z-grip and really like it. But, I can't compare to anything else cause I've not tried any of the others.
