this is for a 68 chevelle 2 door coupe with ivy gold bench seat. the drivers and passengers seat fold down. I am unsure of which set from year one to order. There is a set thats $177 for the front. and theres a set thats $650 for a different bench seat for the 68 chevelle.
I am hoping its the $177....... but my gut tells me otherwise....
When you say "fold down" do you mean the fold forward to allow entry into the back seat or both sides recline? Forward folding bench (and bucket for that matter) are typical since that's the only way to get into the back seat. Don't recall any 68 Chevelle bench seat that reclined.
Chevrolet did use Buick, Olds, and Pontiac seats at some plants between very late March thru mid June those I've run across so far have always been black, no other colors. What is the body date, plant, and trim code on your trim tag?
My Year One catalog is kind of old but I see front bench for $169 and rear for $70 or $225 for the set. This is probably the trim code 774 Medium Gold Imitation Leather setup.
There's another set for $575 that's for "...Rapture cloth inserts and Madrid grain skirts..." This is for trim code 779.
That photo on my site is the same interior as yours, 779 cloth and vinyl (imitation leather) and, to be honest, I've never seen a 754 all vinyl interior.
Technically, no it wouldn't matter as long as you're replacing both, it just wouldn't be "correct" for the car.
I thought about that. but its a "malibu" and already has a different motor, 12 bolt.....ect soon to be vintage air. Dont think it will hurt the value, as I have no plans to sell it, and otherwise there are so many things changed it will be just another on the list.
In that case, I'd say no harm, no foul.
