Hello, can a 10.1 355 492 camel humps and a Lunati 60103 =400hp:thumbsup:
I can buy a set all redone for $500.00, would like aluminum but to much $. Motor will be in a 79 Vette 2500 stall, Super Comps. Thanks, Al
I would say you may even have a hard time getting it to run at 10:1 compression on pump gas without detonation.
To be honest the extra money you spend on decent aluminum heads would be well worth the money for extra power and would be easily capable of running pump gas.
Not saying they can't be ported and reworked to make good power with reduced timing, but it would take a bunch of work.
I have about the same setup with a smaller cam. Lunati recommended the Streetmaster II cam which is 235 235@.050 .507 lift on a 107 lsa. They said it would give the overlap needed to help with the cylinder pressure.
Yes you can run 10:1 all day on pump gas. I ran close to the same setup in my 64 for years on pump gas with no issues. I dont remember the cam size but it was close but it was a solid cam. My 64 ran 12.90 with the 355, 462 heads, 3500 convertor in a 400 turbo with a 4:10 gear.
Personally I think it will both make 400 HP, AND run on pump gas, IF the pistons are flat-tops, and all the supporting pieces - like exhaust and TUNING - are there too.
