I am trying to decide on a color for my 68 Elky. I would like to see any 68-72 Elky's painted in the above colors mentioned please. Does anyone know the paint code for Candy Apple Red ?? Is that a legit name color ?? Thanks,Mark ----------------------------------------------------------------------------1968 Chevelle Malibu 1968 El Camino
was it originally red? If I was painting one and not going back to original color I would choose something besides red. Why you ask? EVERYONE has a red car (me included). the teals are beautiful the grecian green is a great color. Check ou the color charts for the year 68 on the front page of the site. mine is a 72 painted in Porsche Red http://depley.home.mindspring.com/72sprint/72sideview.jpg
My 70 elky was a 1992 Cadillac color- "Medium Garnet Ret Metallic" Kinda cool- was a strawberry metallic red in bright sunshine, and a dark burgundy metallic on a cloudy day. I really dug the color! Gotta look at several pics as it looked very different in different colored light.
Thanks Ben, Youre right that color is Cool Looking. Do you happen to know the paint code number on that color ?? That is a metallic in basecoat/clearcoat,correct ?? PPG or Dupont or ?? Thanks, Mark

It is a PPG base coat/Clear coat type paint. I don't know the paint code, but it IS a factory GM color. "1992 Cadillac 'Medium Garnet Red Metallic'"
Any paint shop should be able to look it up based on that info. When I was rear ended- The bodyshop was able to match the paint exactly.
BTW: Caddillac has an even better color now though... When I repaint my 70 olds (my current car) I'm going to repaint it 2005 Cadillac "Crimson Pearl"
Go to caddillac's website and look at their new cars- I can't remember the name of the car with this color(its their little 2 seater)- but I saw one in person on a sunny day and it was unbelieveable. Thats the color for me!
Thanks for all the info.Ben, I really appreciate it. Thanks, Mark ----------------------------------------------------------------------------1968 Chevelle Malibu 1968 El Camino
