Well it has been a couple seasons with the new crew. Do you think the show is better now? Not as much silly antics as before and more attention is placed on the cars.
It occured to me that maybe Darren and Josh are gone because they were stealing the limelight from Mark. Now he is the only one doing crazy stuff on the show. Even Royal is rarely on the show although he appears to be fairly normal.
Cant figure out why Allysa is on the show and appearing to be working on cars. Must just be for eye candy. She is pretty hot but a little short changed up top.
Dont know how they decide which are going to be main participants in the show. I get the impression there are quite a few behind the scenes.
They sure do turn out so beautiful Mopars though. Dont know if it was all scripted but one of my favorites was the "popcorn" show with Darren. That was a classic.

The technical parts of the show are really good but I can't stand Mark, he tries to make everyone else look like they don't know anything. Get rid of him and focus on their restoration work and it would be a much better show. It does look like they do outstanding work.

I watch it once in awhile. I like the show because there's none of the drama, sure the owner likes to goof around. Sometimes he gets to ham it up a bit much but it is what it is.
Only thing I find irritating is the way they describe every car.
"This is a plum crazy 383 4 speed radio delete only 4 of 12 produced Plymouth valiant"
But for numbers guys it's probably great info. Jim

As with all the shows they have to put in something to use time. if it was just about rebuilding a car it would get boring real fast.
They shoot a ton of stuff that you will never see.
What happens on a lot of shows after a couple of seasons the actors want more money so they are gone. The show probably brings in more money for the shop then building cars.
a pretty face helps ratings

Mark is an idiot, but Daren was an even bigger idiot. Mark has obviously spent a lot of time working on Mopars and gaining knowledge of them. I never saw Daren with dirt on his hands or clothes. I think he was just some stupid actor hired and scripted for his big mouth.

The new assembly guy (Dave?) seems very knowledgeable and capable, and also comes off as a really nice guy. I'm surprised Worman would hire such a guy. Allysa is eye candy, nothing more. The paint guy would obviously have an easier time of it if he could pry Mark off his back.

As for Mopars I'm glad I've always been a GM guy, as I certainly can't imagine trying to restore a rusted Mopar, given their unibody design makes it all but impossible to replace inner fenders, a core support or (integral) frame rails, given the entire body/frame (excepting doors, fenders and hood) is a single weldment. I never saw a GM guy build a full body jig to replace a core support or weld in a quarter panel and a trunk floor.

It's one of the shows I regularly try to catch on Velocity. I think it's gotten better - in the earlier seasons Mark cut down the employees a lot more than he does now, and some of his goofing around is pretty funny. Production of the show is better too

I've been checking out some of the other shows on Velocity as well, and depending on what a particular episode looks like, I'll watch that. One that I miss that I'm not sure is coming back is FantomWorks. Graveyard Carz does nice factory restoration, where as FW did a lot of nice custom work. Just re-watched an episode where they dropped a LT4 in a '69 with IRS, etc.

The shop is about 12 miles from me. I've been in several times to buy swag.
Marks wife is genuine, Alyssa is as well. They really do have that little Chihuahua running around the office barking. Mark was willing to stop and say hi and seemed to appreciate his fans(I'm one of them). I saw Dave, Royal and I swear I saw josh though I thought he and Alyssa were divorced by now. His shop is full of cars as is that side lot. His wife said they are booked for years doing cars and the show has really opened up the world to them since they specialize in Mopars. I think he will restore any make though as I saw, what appeared to be anyway, a Orange 69 COPO Camaro and red 427 Vette in that front room you always see them working in.

The shop is in a older industrial/residential part of Springfield, Or. Opposite end off of main street he used to be on. I think he still owns the old shop and now leases it out to a body shop ironically.

As has been covered on a recent show, he has started cloning wing cars and does several a year for buyers who I've heard supply the drive train or install it themselves. He does all levels of restoration work and all stages.

He owns the production company that produces the show.(the Division) and does very well with it.

I can't stand Mark

To the point I'll even change the channel when their commercials are on. Love the cars but he is a complete tool.

Speaking of FantomWorks, I don't care for the owner there either, he is either an ass for real or a very bad actor. He over dramatizes it when things don't go right or they find an unexpected issue. I know they have to make the shows interesting but at least change it up and don't do the same routine every episode.

X10- that guy could make a loose lug but sound like suicide if the owner drove it. But we can take it out and beat the ever-livin-$hi+ out of it and then say it has a over heating problem.

I watched a few of the early episodes and couldn't stand it. I hate the drama. I don't care if it's real or manufactured to keep the show interesting. If they are more interested in their 15 minutes of fame or selling some T-shirts at the cost of their dignity, good for them. Stick to showing how things are done, many shows have succeeded using that format, if these shows weren't interested in taking the easy way out they could.

I like the show a lot more than in the beginning. I read something that made me feel differently about the show. In an interview, Mark had said he had been pitching a show for a while and they'd always turn him down because his content was too technical/boring and nobody would want to watch it. He was somewhat forced to fabricate some drama in order for him to land the show, which makes sense. I'm glad they've moved away from all the antics the previous shows had because Mark is an extremely knowledgeable and informative person.

I never met a Mopar that I liked much, but I love the show.

I can honestly say that I have always thought Dodge and Plymouth produced some of the ugliest and most clunky looking cars on earth.

Watching has made me gain a real appreciation for Mopar.
To the point where I've kinda started digging the looks of some of those cars.

It's the only real nuts and bolts resto show on TV. I really appreciate the attention to detail, and seeing how it's done.

As far as Worman, I think he's hilarious.

But I didn't start watching it regularly until the other guys were already gone. I've gone back and watched some of the earlier episodes and can understand why folks didn't like it.

I watch here and there because I'm interested in the cars and the restorations. I don't really know all of their names and the silly stuff needs to go away but these shows are made to entertain the masses, not just car guys. I will say that I'm kinda hooked on Garage Dreams and Full Custom Garage at the moment.

Probably one of the better shows since Alyssa came on, up there with Jesse, Danica, and Christy Lee. Apparently they do pretty nice work, too. Who is this Mark guy you talk about?

Phantomworks is on my list of places to visit on one of my trips to Norfolk for a t shirt. Surprised they don't have an Alyssa.

Audrey, who works in the Fantomworks office, is kinda cute.

Graveyard Cars is not a bad show, especially since I used to own several Mopars and a 65 Belvedere is still one of my favorite cars.

With that said I like some of the other Velocity shows much better: Bitchin' Rides, Chasing Classic Cars and Fantomworks.

If you can ignore the sideshow stuff Graveyard Cars and Fantomworks shops really do some nice restoration work, and that is why I watch.

As one who served a machinist apprenticeship at a Navy laboratory in the 1970's, being instructed by WWII veterans, it is somewhat strange watching tattooed kids with mutilated ears doing high-quality metal and paint finishing. But I guess that is simply life in the 21st century. :wink2:

Females that work on cars or at least appear to be interested in them just “seem” to be hotter for whatever reason. :x

Pat, easy...i know.... a few friends recently had "Christy" pics taken @Detroit , posted on FB and they are all a-glow..... dont mean to rain on anyone's parade but some of the girls in the past were... well.... built better. That Italian chic from Rochester NY , the original powerblock girl.... wrenches, motocross racing and STUNNING looks... smart biker girl meets Rachel Welsh kinda thing BOOM! .....Christy's cute, and a great wrench.....

For the record, the only car show I really dont ever get ego puckered on is Americarna. Ray carries himself with respect and integrity - always. Street Outlaws has the "discipline" of racing in the mix, so its pretty clean in scripted ego crap. I *HATE* the legal, edited up broken race scenes though. I prefer The Guild's show ( them Canadiens!) to FanthomWorks, but both are on par. The Canadians seem more down to earth eh, but I watch both. ;)

Yeah, the guy from Fantomworks seems to always get dramatic about things. When he's looking for a part it's like he found the last part for the car on the planet. I like when he takes them in the office first and goes over the bill with them. I know it costs money to go to these places but I'd hate to be paying some of his clients bills. The guys that are really talented in metalwork are on Bitching Rides.

Graveyard cars is one of the best. Always high quality work. On the other end of the quality spektrum is Fantomworks. Seriously wouldn't trust them to change my oil. Most builds cost 2 or 3 times what you could buy a completed equivalent (and done correctly) for. Dans an arrogant ass. JUST MY OPINION.

I enjoy this show a great deal. Have never been any kind of Mopar fan but these cars are beautiful.

Anyone who bashes Mark needs to get over it. He's playing a part, making fun of himself most of the time (for those who don't get it) and I think he has an awesome sense of humor. Also I don't think the show has gotten as "fake" as most guided reality shows normally would by now.

The show would have been over well before now if they had kept the original crew. WAY too much BS and not enough about the cars. True, I've been disappointed by a couple episodes this year that seem like complete filler but I'm kept entertained and informed and that's why I record it every week.

Not a fan of Mopar but certainly a fan of the show.
