Experts - it's time to add fluid to and bleed new brake setup...... I have put in new lines from ground up, new tandem wilwood master cylinder and new wilwood two piston calipers..... my question is what is best brake fluid to use? ..... 71 chevelle, 550 hp...... street use only.... someday a test run at the track but not regular racing...... . Wilwood manual says Wilwood Hi Temp 570 grade fluid and not to use Silicone DOT5..... Thank you very much! what are your thoughts on DOT 3? DOT 4? DOT 5?

I'd certainly follow Wilwood's recommendation on their product. I've found that GM fluid or quality dot 3 is fine for the street. However, I've overheated those types of fluids when I run my multi events. Usually in the 0-100-0 or 0-80-0 events. I'm running the Wilwood 600 fluid now which is expensive but seems to give me a firmer pedal and a little more protection. For you application, I wouldn't spend the money.

Thank you all very much. Agree that going with Wilwood recommendation seems best way to go. Calling them tomorrow to finalize and order.

Mike - just checked out the Kaleco site --- WOW! Cool to learn so much every day on this site. Thanks for taking the time to mention them.

Another vote here to use Wilwood's recommended fluid. Wilwood provides awesome technical support and whatever they say, when it comes to their systems, I follow to the letter. I've always run their stuff on my oval track cars and have had good success.

Good luck.
