You pretty much have it figured out.
When converting from an auto tranny car to a manual tranny, an additional hole is needed in the firewall for the clutch push rod. Once the hole is made, then everything is pretty much obvious how it all goes together.

Howdy, I was reading thru the gazillion four speed conversion threads and wondered if you'd take another question? Does the steering column have to be taken out or loosened? I wondered if you could take the screws out of the plate in the cab on the firewall and just drill the hole? The boot is supposed to be sandwiched btwn the plate and the firewall isn't it?

    Thanks

Tom it's been a long time since I have been to this site. Hope you are doing well and was wondering if you could help with some information. Tried searching but guess I keep put the wrong combination of words in. Blow the rear end up in the Chevelle and am trying to put it back together but am unable to find torque specs on the c-clip eliminators I have installed. ( The horse shoe shaped end holder for the bearings) Thanks Shaun (BLT4FN)

Tom my name is Jack Kuczinski out of Chandler,OK. Im working on a 55' Belair and found a write up you did long ago about putting posi units in the stock 1955 chevy rear end.
You wouldn't happen to have a drop in unit for sale by chance, or build one? Ha! I know its out of the blue, but thought I would ask. Thanks for your time. -Jack

No, I don't know of any source for rebuilding cruise units-----------I sure wish I did!
No more info from VA. I keep saying I'm going to go back and apply some more, but never take the time to do it.

Tom, Do you know anyone that reconditions cruise control units, I have Cruise on my 80 GMC and all the testing I've done indicates it is defective. Thank You in advance.

On another note, did you ever hear from the VA about your claim?

I saw the bellhousing 101 question about parts application I have. I bought a 1967 396 4 speed Chevelle SS. someone put a 68 327 w/a t10 4 spd in it. Bellhousing 3815891 c-8-5 code, 3789733 11" flywheel. I bought a 1966 396 that I am having rebuilt. From your article this bellhousing and flywheel should work. I bought a 1969 M21 muncie 4 speed. I matched the trans to the bellhousing opening and it fits. The starter that was on the 327 has a 1935846 nose and a 1108338 stamping on the case. will this starter work on the 396? If not, what part number starter do I need to buy? Also should I bolt the starter to the bellhousing or the 396 block? I also need the inspection cover and I saw corvette central has a kit that has (2) pieces in it. will this work with my setup? site wouldn't let me post the link to the kit. Thanks for your time.. Terry
