    Gary,
I visited with you a few weeks ago on building my 396. Most of the machine work is done (waiting on crank), and I need a recommendation on a timing chain set. Going to use a GM 454 HO cam, so I'll need a gen 6 timing set that will fit/work under the stock timing cover. My guy mentioned something about getting one with a torrington bearing in it? Do you have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Duane

    Hi Gary,
I saw an old post on nastyz28 that said you did performance modifications on bbc factory intakes. I am currently rebuilding the engine in my 1970 LS-5 Chevelle. Doing some cylinder head modifications, bigger valves, some bowl work, and a cam upgrade. I want to keep it stock looking as possible, but want 500+ hp. I'm considering an Edelbrock rpm performer and just grinding off the name on it and painting or orange so most people wouldn't know it wasn't stock. That should get me the horsepower I want. But, if you could do modifications on the stock intake that could pick up some decent horsepower, I would rather go that way, as that should get me pretty close to the horsepower I'm looking to make. Please advise if you can do anything for me. My email address is

Hi, I made a post about a 396 build for my 70 and was recommended to ask your opinion since I want to run the original intake and exhaust manifolds. If you have a moment could you look at the post and let me know your thoughts? I'm not looking for a monster motor but something that will have a nice pickup off the line and sounds respectable.
